Hello! This is a literary roleplay blog for Goro Majima from the Yakuza franchise! I'm Mads, he/him, and I've been writing on Tumblr for a Long Time, my timezone is EST, and both me and my muse are 18+. I'm autistic and has been suffering with a long-time debilitating anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember. The way I may act can be perceived as me being distant extremely sporadically and may put me off from interacting with many of my mutuals, but I assure you, that if we're following each other, that means I'm interested in interaction! I just have a really hard time conveying it, I promise. I can also be quite slow with replies, as I'm do 3D modeling work and have IRL to worry about, so please be patient with me. However, I do not need tone indicators.
This blog WILL contain spoilers for the Yakuza games, including Dead Souls. I no longer tag my spoilers. I also do not fully associate this blog with the Yakuza roleplay community.
I also tend to get super chummy and friendly with mutuals that want to interact and have connections with my muse. In fact, the interactions I feel like stick around the longest are the ones where I have actual connections with the muns and feel comfortable with. Like, if we interact a lot, I’ll one hundred percent want to send funny shit to you in the context of our muses, clog your inbox, pester you on discord, etc. If you want me to calm down, just tell me; I won't be offended.

Given the nature of the Yakuza series, some extremely disturbing content may be described and written on this blog. I do not endorse any of the things Majima may do or say, nor do I condone anything that happens in the games either by him or by other people. I will not tag EVERYTHING distressing that may happen, but I will try for the more serious topics that may come up or be written. Majima, by nature, is an extremely volatile character. He isn’t always going to be the nicest or the most respectable person. Not only that, but he’s a major figure in the yakuza in-universe and can be a danger to be around and interact with. He may be a goofy, unhinged weirdo, but he’s also an unapologetic criminal. He can and will fight those who provoke and he’s damn well good at destruction and brawling. I’m not going to change him or soften him up for your muse, unless we discuss things beforehand/plot reasons/shipping. Despite the fact that I, the mun, have full control over my muse, because of who he is, I’m not going to lie to you or push OOC behavior onto him just because. He’s a dick and incredibly dangerous to the point to where he borders on sadism and I’ve embraced that. I love my little meow meow (derogatory). Another note-- I know I’ve mentioned this already, but he’s INCREDIBLY dangerous in combat, to the point where he’s been called a monster based on his abilities alone. He isn’t superhuman, but he can be seen as such by other people. He doesn’t hold back, and I’M not going to hold back when writing combat with him.
ESPECIALLY for mutuals that don’t know a lot about the Yakuza series, I’m willing to answer any question I can about the games to make interactions easier or if you’re just curious. It’s my current special interest and I LOVE to gush about it. I actually encourage ANYONE to just come up to me and ask me questions about the game or Majima. The fandom is relatively small and I wanna RAMBLE! Just let me know if you want me to shut up, and I will.

If I follow you, it generally means I'm interested in interacting with your character/you. If I don't receive a follow-back/equal interest in about a day, I'll unfollow. This is just to keep my dash clean/mutuals only. If you follow me and are interested in interacting, chances are, I’ll be following back too if your blog doesn’t have any red flags (questionable interactions/content or OOC attitude, too much unrelated OOC, etc).

I’m open to writing these topics on Discord. All extremely mature themes will be appropriately tagged. Smut is EXTREMELY rare here; I try to stay as minor-safe as I can in context of sexual content. Regardless, everything will be tagged. I feel more comfortable writing most to all sexual interactions on Discord anyways, haha. GRAPHICS & FORMATTING
All of the graphics I use are edited by me from screencaps of the Yakuza games. Please do not use or repost my icons or graphics. :( I also make a lot of my own 3D renders using Blender (my older renders made in SFM). Don’t steal those either, edited or not. Also, please don’t ask me for my .PSDs. I’ll release them if I want to release them. Many of my Goromi icons are taken from a model swap mod video upload, which you can find HERE! The Majima model I used in my old SFM renders was ported by spookymajora. The rest of the rips I may showcase are done by myself. I do not take credit for any of the meshes I use unless I specifically state otherwise.
I also format my posts with super small text, double spacing, and small icons. If you need me to adjust to your format for medical reasons or eye-strain, please let me know and I’ll make it easier to read for our threads! I use the Xkit extension(s) quite a lot for checking mutuals, formatting, and generally making my use of Tumblr easier.
TIMELINE, INTERACTIONS, & INTERPRETATION
Do NOT use my icons as a reference for what verse I am writing in (excluding my Y0 verses). I know his eyepatch changes in Yakuza 3, but honest to god, Majima doesn’t have a lot of cutscene content from K1-K2. Please refer to the tags on the post to know what verse I’m writing in. Every verse except for Yakuza 0 will use the same icons, for obvious reasons and for reasons explained previously. I can also create a verse for you in order to have our muses interact if you need me to. By default, all threads will be in an undecided verse until further discussion or unless we have our own verse (more inclined to creating our own verse if our muses are in a romantic relationship &/or crossover each others’ canons).
I do not know Japanese. I am a white American. I know some hiragana, but nowhere near the entire language and I don't want to pretend that I'm all-knowing or whatever. Since Yakuza is based entirely within Japan and is a Japanese-spoken game series (completely ignoring the English dub for the OG Yakuza + Yakuza 7), of course I’m going to have to touch on honorifics, the language, culture etc. I apologize in advance if any of my usages are incorrect or if I make any mistakes, as I promise I’m trying my hardest. I try to do my research in terms of the actual Yakuza, Japanese culture, etc. If I accidentally do or say something inaccurate or problematic, please tell me and I'll correct and inform myself!
I have played 0-7 to completion multiple times (except for 6, which I've only played through once), as well as Dead Souls. I have not yet played through Judgment, though I do plan on playing relatively soon. I've watched through Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!, but not completely through Ishin!, though I do not want to write Baiken or Souji, figured I'd mention my progress regardless. I have also partially gone through the first Kurohyou, since a fanmade english translation of the first game's main story has been made available. I have yet to experience Kurohyou 2 or Ryu ga Gotoku Online.
Also, Park’s and Majima’s marriage isn’t canon on this blog. No grooming here. Fuck Yakuza 5’s canon. Here, he and Park were associated with each other, but not married. I hate Sega's writers. A lot. And I'm going to make that known.
A note about Goromi as a character and how I portray her: I don't consider Goromi as an extension of Majima's gender identity (I would feel Not Very Great if I did that, considering how she was portrayed in Kiwami, as a trans person myself), and rather, I write her as more of her own person, if that makes sense. A drag persona, I guess. I use she/her pronouns for her.
ORIGINAL CHARACTERS
I LOVE OCS!! I have a ton myself and will continue to make more!! However, as they already are affected by the selectivity I have for canon characters and by extension all other RP blogs, I do at least want to see an about page more than just basic biological traits in order to interact with them + some kind of backstory. FOR OCS THAT ARE RELATED TO MAJIMA IN STORY OR BIOLOGICALLY/FAMILY: please come talk to me first if you want to interact. I may not feel comfortable interacting. Or we might have to plot a bit in order to get the dynamic to work.
SHIPPING
I know there’s a stigma against muns that love shipping, but I don’t care when I say that I LOVE to ship. Shipping is super fun for me and therefore, this blog is multi-ship. I’m willing to ship with multiples of the same muse as well. All I ask is that if you want to ship with me, please don’t force it on me. Shipping requires for there to be equal interest between muns and chemistry. Honestly, if you're into it, there's a 90% chance I'll be into it too, as long as it isn't obviously predatory or weird. Please only ship with me if you are 18+ OOC and your muse is 20+.
My Majima is bisexual and is extremely open about it, as well as being sexually active. He flirts and can be cocky, but please don’t initially take it as him seeking genuine interest in your muse; it’s just in his nature.

PERSONALITY

Majima is a resourceful, charismatic, and commanding individual. He has gained the respect of friend and foe alike, often with his ferocious abilities in battle. Despite being the patriarch of his own family - and later, lieutenant advisor to the sixth chairman, Dojima Daigo - he dislikes serious meetings and often finds a way to showily barge his way into them. He is shown to have a soft spot for his family members - even if he is prone to physically punishing them for their disobedience.
He has a fierce, somewhat twisted sense of loyalty, especially when it comes to his rival-turned-friend, Kiryu Kazuma. Majima believes he is the only one entitled to kill Kiryu, and has nearly died trying to protect that right. In later games, it appears to become somewhat of a running joke between the two rather than a true threat. He respects physical power above all else, and often pesters Kiryu into fighting him to prove himself whenever a favor is asked of him.
He commonly reminds others that he has standards to uphold as a yakuza, despite his theatrically unhinged persona, and states that he dislikes dishonorable men, especially ones that intentionally break rules. He is shown to go out of his way to help civilians that are put in danger by yakuza affairs, specifically women and children, who he has a soft spot for. Occasionally his sense of self preservation will win over his need to do the right thing, and unlike Kiryu, he is not above turning a blind eye to the suffering of others. If there is a chance that something will cause problems for himself or anyone close to him, he will not hesitate to throw others under the bus.
His "Mad Dog" act is primarily inspired by three men - three paragons of the "tenacity" that he wishes to embody - that he comes to know in Yakuza 0; Homare Nishitani, a man who lives for the thrill, putting excitement and the pursuit of pleasure above all else, Wen Hai Lee who uses his strength to protect the ones he loves, and Tsukasa Sagawa, who, as Majima says, is "damn near immortal." To Sagawa, he vows to "have more fun and live crazier than any of 'em."
He is polite and respectful by nature to civilians and to his superiors, and is surprisingly pragmatic, all three of which made him a fantastic businessman throughout his life, as shown by his success with The Grand and Club Sunshine, and later his construction company, Majima Construction. This also leads him to being favored by his superiors, sometimes against his will, as is the case with Tsukasa Sagawa.
Majima loves baseball, and considers it a bonding activity, associating it with both Saejima and Kiryu. Nishida calls him sentimental, seeing him mope around before Kiryu plans to leave for Okinawa. He is shown to hold on very closely to the past, and never forgets a promise. He is loyal to a fault - particularly when it comes to Saejima, and later Kiryu - and will put anyone that he cares about above himself.
Though these verses may take place in specific periods, they can be dismissed completely for interactions. They are mostly just a time of reference for events. Spoiler warning, as always, for Y0-Y5. Dead Souls, Animal Crossing, and Oni/Demon verses are currently in the works. Ship exclusive verses are also listed here.

YAKUZA 0/0 MODERN
(CHRONOLOGICALLY ~1988) Majima is held captive in "The Hole" for a year for his defiance against Shimano. In 1987 he was released to live a civilian life in Sotenbori, though he is still kept under strict watch of Sagawa Tsukasa. He ends up as manager of the Cabaret Grand, with the promise of returning to Shimano's family if he can make 100 million yen in profits. Majima reluctantly falls into his role of "Lord of the Night", turning the Grand around and making it one of the most well known attractions in Sotenbori.
After the major plot events (Vacant Lot Dispute, Makoto assignment) of Yakuza 0, years later, he meets with Sagawa, adorning the look that he wears for the rest of the series, telling him that he's going to "live his own way", in the inspiration of the deaths of major allies Nishitani and Lee.
The verses concerning this time period take place before his assignment to assassinate Makoto Makimura and the Vacant Lot Dispute. This can be adjusted. The years of which the events take place can be adjusted for modern variations of this verse.
KIWAMI (1)
(CHRONOLOGICALLY ~2005) Majima is now the patriarch of his own family. He has a questionable allyship with Kiryu Kazuma, intentionally trying to get in his way during the major events of the plot and fight with him at any opportunity. This verse takes place after or during the major events of Kiwami, can be specified if necessary.
KIWAMI 2
(CHRONOLOGICALLY ~2006) Majima leaves the Tojo Clan and establishes Majima Construction with the former members of his family. The verse concerning this time period takes place after the major events of Kiwami 2 and the Majima Saga. Specific times can be established if necessary.
YAKUZA 3
(CHRONOLOGICALLY ~2007-2009) Majima returns to the Tojo Clan under the request of Kiryu Kazuma. He reestablishes his family. Majima Construction is still actively completing Kamurocho Hills. The verse concerning this time period takes place after the major events of Yakuza 3. Specific times can be established if necessary.
YAKUZA 4
(CHRONOLOGICALLY ~2010) The Majima family has moved into the old Kazama family office in Millennium Tower. The verse concerning this time period takes place after the major events of Yakuza 4. Specific times can be established if necessary.
YAKUZA 5
